The Carolina Farmstead Kitchen Collection
From our furniture workshop
to your kitchen.
One-of-a-kind cutting and serving boards handcrafted from the beautiful hardwood remnants of our furniture production.
Handcrafted in Snow Hill, North Carolina
A Second Purpose
Built from what remains.
Every table, bench and chair we build leaves behind something: beautiful pieces of walnut, white oak, cherry, maple and other hardwoods that are simply too small to become another piece of furniture.
We never liked seeing that wood go to waste.
So we started experimenting.
Today, those hardwood remnants are becoming cutting boards, serving boards, intricate mosaics, ribbon designs and pieces we haven't even dreamed up yet.
The woods available in our workshop are always changing. So are the pieces we create.
From the Workshop
No two have to be alike.
Our first pieces offer a glimpse at what can happen when beautiful hardwood remnants, craftsmanship and a little experimentation come together.
Mosaic Boards
A pattern that can never be repeated exactly.
Small pieces of contrasting hardwood are arranged, cut, rearranged and joined to create unexpected patterns. The available remnants help determine the composition, which means every mosaic develops its own personality.
Ribbon Boards
Functional woodworking with a little movement.
Sweeping bands of contrasting hardwood move through the board like ribbons. The curves, species and grain patterns vary from piece to piece, creating something closer to functional wood art than a conventional cutting board.
Cutting & Serving Boards
Made to be used. Beautiful enough to leave out.
Simpler combinations of hardwood remnants become substantial cutting and serving boards designed for the kitchen, the table, entertaining and everyday gathering.
Personalized Pieces
Make it unmistakably yours.
Monograms, wood combinations, dimensions and other details can turn a handcrafted board into a meaningful wedding, housewarming, anniversary or family gift.
The One-of-One Collection
We begin with the wood.
We don't begin with a catalog and reproduce the exact same cutting board over and over.
The hardwood remnants available from our furniture projects help determine the species, colors, pattern and personality of each piece.
Some weeks the shop may produce walnut and white oak. Another week might give us cherry, maple or reclaimed material.
That's part of what makes this collection different.
When a one-of-a-kind piece is sold, that exact piece is gone.
Built for You
Have something else in mind?
Just like our furniture, our cutting and serving boards can be built specifically for you.
If you're looking for a particular size, wood combination, pattern, personalization or a completely original design, tell us what you have in mind.
We'll work with you to develop a piece specifically for your kitchen, your home or someone important to you.
Your board can begin with:
- Preferred dimensions
- Favorite hardwood species or color direction
- Mosaic, ribbon, edge-grain or other design ideas
- Personalization or monograms
- An inspiration photograph
- Or simply an idea you'd like us to explore
Where It Begins
It starts with furniture.
The walnut in your cutting board may have begun as an offcut from a dining table. The white oak may have remained from a chair. The cherry may have come from a fully custom furniture project.
These aren't materials purchased simply to manufacture another product. They're beautiful hardwoods from the work already happening in our North Carolina furniture shop—given another opportunity to become something worth keeping.
